Hazard Abatement Within a Building Envelope
An in-depth look at abatement procedures and how they occur within a building envelope. The building envelope involves many systems within a building both exterior and interior, these systems are integral in any environment especially in those that present difficult conditions. Hazard abatement within buildings is difficult and specialized as we work to ensure that no occupants are harmed over the course of the abatement project and that no hazardous conditions are left for those who will re-occupy the area. When looking at the interaction between the building envelope and hazard abatement procedures we have to ensure that proper protections for the building and occupants are in place.

Who Are We?

The Seattle Building Enclosure Council (SeaBEC) is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to promote the pursuit of excellence in the design, construction, or other technical aspects of the building enclosure. SeaBEC began in January 2005 as a forum for discussion and knowledge-sharing of items relating to building enclosures. It promotes and encourages discussion training, education, technology transfer, the exchange of information about local issues and cases, relevant weather conditions, and all matters concerning building enclosures and the related science.

It is our hope that by combining forces we can better understand why building enclosures fail and how to better construct and maintain buildings in the Pacific Northwest.

A special thank you to our SeaBEC website sponsors
